Interesting post, I'm planning a move (most days) and I found myself 'praying' for my friends and family to be all set before I go. Some sold their house, others found partners, my son realized he loved living in Maine. So I'm happy they are happy and most times that's all I want for them and me.

It has been said, I believe you mentioned it before, that happiness cannot be found.
Happiness is all around us, we just need to open our eyes and see it. Those who live in happiness tend to be those that share happiness, ie happy thoughts, happy disposition and happy actions.
Here is a good quote I used as my Facebook "Quote of the day" yesterday.

Your destiny is my destiny. Your happiness is my happiness..
May there always be peace, love and happiness in every house.

Cant agree more, as happiness is subjective and also relative...
Seeking happiness as an end might be counterproductive- as many report that constantly checking to see if they are happy actually decreases their happiness . It may be better, therefore, to seek some positive goals as ends, viz: "finding happiness in the happiness of others ", ............ and happiness will be a side-effect.

Oh, how beautifully stated, Croz! This very thing is what ended a lifetime (40 yrs) friendship on last Sunday. The things that made my best friend happy in no way made me happy, except to see her happy. I had reminded her that things were not highly important to me a couple weeks beforehand...and not the importance (proudness and pompous statures) people expected for themselves. I even explained that my happiness comes from living a Godly life; not competing with others for anything. I'm just not that girl anymore. Instead of filling my home with clutter, I get great joy giving to others. Well, enough was enough...I called her and she immediately went on and on about how "I didn't think of her as being important enough...using condescending remarks too often...failing to consider her accomplishments, etc." then slammed the phone down before I could utter one word. (Her poor cell may need to be replaced!). Happiness is quite different between two people, especially when one's growth moves them in another direction.

Yes, I enjoy your posts immensely and thought I would comment this time.

LOVE your tip about finding happiness in the happiness of others. That is a lot more potent than many people may realize! :)

Croz ... What you say is so true, and I wonder if it's guys more than women who make this mistake of pursuing "selfish happiness"? I've seen many women walk out of relationships in which the guy was trying to "give her everything" ... fancy this, fancy that .. things he thought she wanted, instead of stopping to listen to what she really wanted.

Women perhaps tend to go to the other extreme, thinking too much of others and neglecting themselves. I'm thinking particularly of mothers here.

No worries!

Nice message Croz. Being fulfilled is just as important as pursuing happiness, IMO. I believe you can only be truly fulfilled when you are authentic and compassionate towards all living beings and things.

Secondly, no need to chase happiness, it's already there. It's just a choice we all make, don't make or don't want to make. If it seems difficult, then there is 'resistance' present. Release the resistance and happiness floats naturally to the surface. There are many methods for 'letting go' of resistance available.

Best wishes
