It’s All About Balance

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I have been working lately on a few ways to explain and advise about what it is that creates a more relaxed and prosperous life.

For many years I have accepted that a relaxed state is essential to enjoy all that is going on around you, including family, work, money, entertainment etc.. My Worry Free Island programme is based on de stressing your mind so that you are receptive to change and more importantly able to initiate new ideas.

Most of us wait until we are in real strife before we start trying to make things better. Everyone has different stress and different problems, stress can be caused by different situations and one persons stress is actually another persons supposed solution. An example of this is a man who has plenty of money but no time to be with his family and another man who has plenty of time with his family and not enough money.

It is crazy that both these people are dissatisfied with their life and they are both seeking what the other person does not value. One wants time and the other wants money.

As you can see this is a conundrum and it shows that you must have balance in your life and to have balance, you sometimes have to have trade offs. I liken it to the old fashioned scales in the sweet shop, The weight was put on one side and the sweets were put on the other, in order to balance the scales, the shop assistant had to either add or subtract sweets to balance the scales.

I remember a lovely story where there was a sweet shop and the owner wondered why one of the assistants always had a queue and the other did not. Suspecting something fishy, he decided to watch both assistants. What he saw amazed him, there was nothing untoward going on at all, what was happening, was that the assistant without a queue, put on too many sweets and to balance the scales took some off and the assistant with the queue, put less sweets on and kept putting on more until the scales balanced.

This illustration shows us that even if we have exactly the same as someone else, we have a perception that what we have is different. So the first way to relax, is to only concern yourself with your own situation and do everything that you can, to balance your own life and do not factor in what others are perceived to have.

The only time to ever concern yourself with someone elses wealth, is if they decide to share it with you. lol.
