Learning From The Past

It was not until I turned 50 and looked back at my life, that all the things that I learnt at that time made sense. I could see exactly what had caused my very eventful life and knowing what I know now would have changed so much. I am not looking back with any regrets, far from it, but I do know that the information I have got and the wisdom I have gained from making mistakes [failing] is so valuable.

Why do people readily go to others to learn a myriad of disciplines and skills, but when it comes to life, they ignore people who have lived a life and in many cases do not even bother to ask. Even someone who has lived a very basic life will have an enormous amount of information on different problems.

The thing is though that you must have faith in the person you ask, because they may have gone through life just making out that they had achieved all they were capable of, so that information, may not be all that helpful. It is not until you really put yourself out there and are prepared to make mistakes in the search of your goal, that you really learn.

One of my success exercises, is to try and fail 10 times in a row. Believe it or not that is virtually impossible. Therefore success is always borne out of failure. So my advice is to fail as often and as quick as you can. Make sure though that all your attempts are leading you towards your goal. Do not set out to fail, that would be stupid, but do not let failure keep you down, failures, really are the stepping stones to success.

It seems in todays world we spend less time teaching our youth the basics of a successful life than we do teaching them the capital cities of various countries or the major rivers of the world. In a society that now has access to virtually every bit of art, knowledge, music, books etc., at the push of a button, do you not think that some time should be spent learning lifes intricacies from someone who has travelled the road so that the peaks and troughs of the journey make some sense.

We wonder why we get confused, but as things change so quickly we tend to think that we need different information to deal with them. The information in truwords is timeless and infact the only art is taking the information and putting it in a way that is easily digestable.

Every bit of information you could possibly want is, as I said readily available, so why do you need a programme like truwords. The simple answer is that when you stumble across something that you do not understand, you will grasp things 100 times better if you have someone to answer questions and put you back on the track.

I Will

Have you ever wondered why some people can do extraordinary things or apparently make successes of every part of their life? The simple answer is, because they think they can.

It is strange how people look everywhere else , other than inside their own mind, to find the solutions and answers to their situations.

The simple fact is that you can always do, what you think you can do. Unfortunately this is a double edged sword, because it allows us to think that we cannot do something.

The internal part of us, that tells us what we are not, capable of is called the WILL and it is your obedient servant, like wise the internal power that tells us what we are capable of is also called the WILL.

The same part of your mind is controlling your entire life good and bad. It is therefore preferable to use it to achieve things you want rather than to use it to avoid doing things.

The WILL is recognised in general speech and has various sayings linked with it to illustrate its power.

When a child misbehaves and there is absolutely nothing you can do to control it ,we tend to say, it is strong willed, or if someone chooses to do something that we initially think might be challenging, we say, “Where theres a WILL theres a way.” So even in just those two examples we have indicated the good and the bad capabilities of our WILL.

Most people do not fully develop their WILL and when they do use it, they use it to stop them doing things and create excuses that their WILL confirms are true.

Your WILL is the most important part of your mind when it comes to success, because it makes a prophecy of what you can achieve, if you start to work with your Will and make it your friend and start believing ,the things it tells you that you can do, the better.

It is possible that you will have visions and ideas that you firmly believe you can achieve , that never eventuate or materialise, that is because the WILL and WILL POWER are two separate things.

It is no earthly good, you convincing yourself that you can do something and then waiting, until the climate is right, or until things change a bit, or until you can work out exactly how things will happen etc.. If you need all these things to align, there will never be right time.

This is where you need the action and this is the WILL POWER, the power to drive the WILL.

If you continually keep giving reasons why you cannot do things, or believe that you can achieve something, but are going to wait until the time is right, you will start to create a culture of accepted failure and this is a real demon to exorcise . When we keep accepting our failures or not acting on our beliefs , we lose hope and confidence and when we lose those two things we have lost everything.

The great thing though is that your WILL is always there and it does not matter where you are in life or how low you feel, he will come to your aid and allow you to map out your future, provided that you are prepared to take advantage of his power, and give yourself a kick up the butt and pledge to action your thoughts.

The Will is your self originating force and no one else has any control over it, so once you decide to use it to create success and as I said, pledge to take action, nothing can stop you.

We have discussed before that a major thing that stops you starting, is trying to get to your destination in one leap. Identify with the fact that everyone who is where you want to be, has been in a similar situation to you, or has at least had to travel their own journey.

Do not settle for less than you are capable, whether your capabilities lie in creating something, helping others, being a good provider for your family, being a great parent, being a painter or an author or absolutely anything that you desire, just know that once you have the WILL you will definitely find the way.

Discovering Limiting Beliefs

What we tend to do when we look at someone successful, is we look at where they are, not where they have been.

Of course if we look at, say, Bill Gates and try and picture us just magically having his vast wealth, our mind will bring in the limiting beliefs and we will just shut off and move on.

The secret is to bring Bill back in your mind to the point where he was the same as you, I assure you that that point exists. Now consider his thoughts at that time, I don’t think they could have conceived a time where he was as wealthy as he became. All he had was a plan and a solid resolve to achieve a goal and because he knew where he was going things just unfolded in front of him.

That is the great thing about knowing where you are going, you find it difficult to take the wrong turning and if you do, it does not take long to get back on track. When you have no destination every road you are on may be the wrong road.

As you can see from the Bill Gates scenario, if you picture something and cannot explain how you are going to achieve it, of course you will switch off, but I can assure you that even having made the journey, Bill would not be able to recall every detail as to how he got to where he is.

That’s interesting isn’t it? Even someone who has travelled the path could not recall in minute detail what happened along the way.

This might clarify, why you must never ask how things are going to happen, because once you make your decision and you have faith and belief in achieving it, the power goes to work putting opportunity after opportunity in your way.

Is being too old, or too late a reason to not try?

Is being old or starting late reason to fail?

A funny title but lots of people seem to use these two reasons, as explanations, or excuses, why they give up.
Whenever you start, the process is the same. There will always be the grey area between starting and arriving.

It is very easy to not even start, because if you are copying someone or trying to do something that is already established you never appreciate, the time and effort required to get to where that person is and we feel that the destination is impossible.

What we tend to do, because we feel we have to make up ground, is try and rush the process and of course it will never work, we are not letting the idea grow naturally.

There is an old saying, “the ladder of success is never crowded at the top”

That is because it only accommodates people that have allowed their ideas to grow naturally. When we get older the problem seems to get worse, not only have we started late, but we also feel that we are running out of time.

So my advice to anyone thinking of starting a new venture or business, is to make sure that you allow your idea to grow naturally. Give yourself time and do not put any undue pressure on yourself to make things happen quickly by ignoring the grey area.

If you do try and force something, it tends not to have the stability of something that has grown naturally. A plant that is over fertilised will either grow too big to support itself, or the fertilizer will kill it.

Most people always get into competition mode and they start judging their results against other companies or people that are already established. This is not a clever thing to do because it makes you feel that you are lagging behind and you go into the unnatural growth mode.

If you have an idea or intend to start a business, make sure that you are prepared to accept the grey area, where it appears nothing is happening, that is always going to be there.

As long as you keep heading towards your target, you will eventually arrive and providing you do not compete or get put off by others success, you will eventually arrive.
